Beaded Necklaces

beaded necklaces

I am kind of obsessed about beading right now and I’m a bit of a hoarder with my supplies 😛 Here’s the 4 neckaces I finished and 2 works in progress, which are still missing their cameos. I’ll be making the cameos with polymer clay, but I want to make a bunch of them at once, I hate turning the oven on to cure just a couple of pieces.

50s Ribbed Shrug

DSC04239-

It’s been a long time since I knitted something. To tell you the truth, I never knitted anything but scarves. However when I recently discovered the array of free vintage patterns available online, I really wanted to pick up my needles again and have a go at more complex projects.

I started by making a ribbed shrug based on this pattern that I got from Liz @ zilredloh. It’s pretty simple but I totally needed the practice.

Last Minute Bolero

On my last trip to the fabric store, I came across this great remnant of pearly white faux fur that I absolutely loved. It was the last piece of this fabric they had, and it was about 50cm long (a little over half a yard). So the only garment I could think about making was a bolero jacket.

The pattern I used was BurdaStyle Bolero 09/2012 #120. I really like the shape of it and thought it would look great in the faux fur. I also required a simple pattern that I could execute quicky, because I wanted to wear this to a dinner with my friends.

Untitled-1 copy

I made these dresses a couple of years ago, they’re both based on BurdaStyle A-Line Dress 05/2011 #108B. Although they were made from the same pattern, I think they have a very different feel. The main change I made to the pattern, was to tweak the front and back bottom pannels to fit my hips.

Owl Cushion for my Sister

My sister loves owls and really wanted an owl cushion for her 12th birthday, on the 3rd November. So I decided to make her one. I based it on this tutorial, but made it a little bigger, I think – final measurements are 43cm (17″) high by 47cm (18 1/2″) wide. I also changed it up a bit by adding feathers to the owl’s belly.

Petticoat for a Wedding – part 3

DSC04271-

DSC03085-

For the back seam, I sewn it with another binding strip and finished it with the technique I used to attach the 3 pieces from the 2nd tier of tulle, by binding and then top stitching it flat.
