40s Turban from Home Chat magazine

Another portable project. This is based on a pattern published in July 1940, in Home Chat magazine, that I got from Lucy @ 1940’s Style For You. I used fingering weight acrylic yarn and US 4 – 3.5 mm needles.

I think the stitch is very pretty on the right side but I confess this was a little boring to knit… it’s just a long strip that you tie to your head.

I tried to wrap the turban in several ways but the front twist is the only one that I like. I found that the bow thingie in the pattern picture is impossible to achieve, at least in the yarn I used. Maybe with thinner yarn?

Either way I’m very happy with it. I’ll probably make it again & again in other colors. 🙂

I’m glad you liked the pattern. I love the colour you have done it in. I agree with you that it was pretty boring to knit! I had another project running alongside it, which made it more bearable to knit. I have more patterns for turbans and hope to get some uploaded, at some point :o)

    • I like these simple patterns as portable projects to work while commuting. This was a bit boring but totally worthwhile!
I’ll be waiting for those patterns, I love turbans! 😉
